Gardner Dam was GREAT
June 28, 2010
Another great week at Gardner Dam!!! All four boys completed 3 merit badges each and had a blast doing it. The weather got in the way at times, but other than that, everything went well. I didn't have to eat any “hockey pucks” or “liquid pancakes”! The boys did very well with cooking and worked well together. Well done, Scouts! Assistant Scoutmaster Malueg

Medal of Honor
January 15, 2010
Congratulations to Joshua Velier on earning the highest award in scouting. On Dec. 28th Josh was presented his Eagle Award in front of family, friends, and fellow scouts. He is the 22nd Eagle Scout to come out of Troop 843 since its inception in 1937. WE are all very proud of him and are looking forward hearing many good things from him. Josh moved to Missouri in August and is going to school to be an Electrician. He also hopes to continue his involvement with scouting.
In what ever you do, Josh, we wish you all the best! Good Job, Well Done!

Scouting For Food
October 26, 2009
American Legion Post 286, Boy Scout Troop 843, and Pack 3843 would like to give thanks to everyone in the Oostburg and Hingham area who supported our "Scouting For Food" food drive this year. Without the generous donations of people in the community, the success of this event could not be possible. Of course, this event would never happen if it would not be for the efforts of many people from the Legion, the Troop and the Pack. As always, the food collected will go to the food bank in the Oostburg Legion Hall, and will benefit needy families in our area.

A Celebration to Remember!
October 3, 2009
100 years of scouting capped off in traditional Boy Scout style, with a Jamboree! More than 10,000 Scouts and Scouters gathered on the grounds of the EAA in Oshkosh to kick off this Centennial Celebration. They came from all over the Midwest representing 21 different councils. With tents just about as far as you can see all around you, and so many Scout uniforms and the presence of the National Guard, This was truly a site to remember!
Our Scouts were able to observe many demonstrations, from RC Planes, Military and Police Implement and tactics, to Snake handling. They also got to participate in events such as Rifle Shooting, an Obstacle Course, and Kite Flying. All in all, we had a lot of fun! I hope to see everyone at the next one (In another 100 years)!

Great Time at Gardner Dam!
Posted July 1, 2009
Although it was hot all week, fun was had by all at Gardner Dam Scout Camp! The first three days were in the high 90s, and the boys spent a lot of time in the water. Some of us were able to tube down the river, and others went Mountain Biking. Some went fishing, and a couple boys spent a lot of their time on the Climbing Wall. We earned a total of 38 merit badges, 3 partials and 9 Awasa awards this year. The leaders were also kept busy earning the 'Adult Leader Award', and had a lot of fun doing it! Mr. Malueg and Mr. VerVelde took time for some intense training to get certified in 'BSA Swimming & Water Rescue' and 'Paddle Craft Safety' (THANK YOU!). HURRAH TO OUR TROOP, we took 2nd place in the 'Water Carnivals' this year. I hope to see everyone back next year!

Spring Camporee at LTC
Posted June 5, 2009
This years Spring Camporee was a blast! We had a good time working with the Health and Human Services, Business and Technology, and General Education Departments. We had the opportunity to take apart a computer and work with a GPS system. We also got to learn about chemistry, dental health, and public safety.

"Lucky Duck"
Posted April 18, 2009
On Saturday, April 18th, we had eight boys and five adults to help with the placement of the Wood Duck Houses we made. We split up into two groups, and we were able to get them all hung by 10:30 a.m. Everyone had lots of fun. We saw a lot of wildlife, and we even got a few wet feet. I would like to thank Mr. Davies for the lumber, Daane Hardware and Oostburg Lumber for materials, Mr. Brusse for use of his shop, and everyone who helped with this project. We can all take pride in the fact that we helped make our waterways more attractive by insuring the population of such a beautiful bird. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this project a success! Waddle we do next?
