Klondike Derby Results
January 29, 2009
After taking first place last year, our troop followed up with a strong performance and took second overall at the 2010 Klondike Derby.
The weather could have been better, but it was still a fun event. Thank you to all the scouts and leaders who came!
Medal of Honor
January 15, 2010
Congratulations to Joshua Velier on earning the highest award in scouting. On Dec. 28th Josh was presented his Eagle Award in front of
family, friends, and fellow scouts. He is the 22nd Eagle Scout to come out of Troop 843 since its inception in 1937. WE are all very proud
of him and are looking forward hearing many good things from him. Josh moved to Missouri in August and is going to school to be an
Electrician. He also hopes to continue his involvement with scouting.
In what ever you do, Josh, we wish you all the best! Good Job, Well Done!
New BSA Health and Medical Records
September 10, 2009
Effective January 1st 2010, the new BSA Health and Medical Record will be replacing the old Medication Cards and the Class 1, 2, & 3
Health forms. From now on, everyone will use the same form for all events. This new form will be required for all scouts, leaders and parents
going on any scout outings or campouts. For long term camping (anything over 72 hours) and any ‘High Adventure’ events, an annual doctors
physical will be required.
The nice thing about the new form is that it is an electronic file that you download to your computer, enter and edit your information,
and then save your own copy for future use. A hard copy must then be printed off and turned in to the Scoutmaster for each event. If you have any questions
about the new forms, you can click here
or contact Mr. Malueg. You can find the new BSA Health and Medical Record on our ‘Forms’ page.
Scouting For Food
October 26, 2009
American Legion Post 286, Boy Scout Troop 843, and Pack 3843 would like to give thanks to everyone in the Oostburg and Hingham area
who supported our "Scouting For Food" food drive this year. Without the generous donations of people in the community, the success
of this event could not be possible. Of course, this event would never happen if it would not be for the efforts of many people from
the Legion, the Troop and the Pack. As always, the food collected will go to the food bank in the Oostburg Legion Hall, and will
benefit needy families in our area.
Wanna Help?
Posted April 6, 2009
It takes a lot to make a troop successful, especially if you want to be an “active troop”. That means lots of outings, rank
advancement, and community involvement. Our Troop is becoming very active, and we need your help to keep it going. What
better way to show interest in what your son is doing than getting involved? Become a Committee Member, an Assistant
Scoutmaster, or even a Merit Badge Councelor. Or do you have another idea of how you can help? To learn more, contact a
Leader or Committee Member today, or E-mail us at:
